American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial    Washington, DC

MVLA won an invited competition for the design of this important memorial in the National Mall corridor. This memorial will honor the multitude of veterans throughout our history whose lives have been changed by service to their country. It is composed of a central fire set in a grove of trees with a reflecting pool, framed by marble and glass walls. These elements work together to continually express the changing reflections of the sky, times of day, seasons, and visitors. Described as a "Fire in the Grove", the Memorial will serve as a place of reverence and permanence in the Nation's Capital.
