Beata Boodell Corcoran
Beata brings to the studio a talent for teaching and communicating design and an understanding of the coherent relationship between landscape and architecture. She uses her training in architecture and landscape architecture to shape all aspects of her work at MVLA. Her design work encompasses a variety of scopes and scales, from urban design, cultural, and institutional projects to residential landscape design.
Prior to coming to MVLA in 2001, Beata worked for Leo A. Daly, DC on both architecture and landscape projects. Before her graduate design work, she directed the Mayors’ Institute on City Design for the National Endowment for the Arts, a program emphasizing that physical design is a fundamental tool that mayors can wield to positively affect the social well being and economic vitality of their cities. During her tenure, she worked with mayors from more than 100 U.S. cities. She enjoys the learning process and in 2002, she co-taught an architecture design studio at Catholic University. Beata has served on design juries at Catholic University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University, and both a Master in Architecture and a Master in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia.
